Hester
Cox

Hesters’ printmaking is informed by her surroundings and wherever she is seeks out evidence of the natural world that is particular to that environment. Hester has spent most of her working life living in rural places and is fascinated by the rhythms and cycles that occur within nature. Over the past few years her work has become increasingly about our relationship with the countryside and she seeks to focus people’s attention on some of our more fragile habitats and threatened wildlife species.

Hester specialises in intaglio collagraph and by using multiple plates, painted textures and intricate cutting in my printmaking she aims to accentuate the patterns and celebrate the colours found within the natural world.

Jeremy James

Jeremy trained at Norwich, Exeter and Cardiff, specialising in sculpture. His work is concerned with animals & people and frequently, their interaction. Much of the sculptural work is made in high fired ceramic and fired in an ageing gas kiln. All the work is ‘one-off’, unique pieces with extensive hand modelling of soft stoneware clay involved in its making.

“I’m interested in the power of objects..what they can make us feel and remember. I believe objects can console, help us hope, make us dream and to recall things that are important to us. It is why I make things.” Jeremy James

Sarah Kinnersley

Sarah’s work is inspired by the natural world and always tells a story. Be-it a quiet reminder of the peace, strength and beauty to be found in nature or capturing a personal moment in time for a precious commission piece.

Sarah is committed that her work is earthed in strong eco credentials, using recycled silver and gold and ethically sourced gemstones.

Her vision is to create jewellery which celebrates the joy of nature, making you feel good and ensuring it doesn't 'cost' the earth.

Annabet Wyndham

After studying at the University of Brighton, in 2003 Annabet completed a residency in Australia which gave her invaluable time to experience and enjoy new ideas and techniques. On returning to her workshop she added torch fired enamelling to her palette. Her jewellery has taken centre stage over her silversmithing in the last few years. Her most recent pieces are inspired by still life paintings and the bringing together of objects.

Annabet uses uncomplicated shapes and techniques of construction such as piercing, cold forging and bending small tactile pieces to make her work.

Penkridge Ceramics

STILL LIFE STUDIES IN CLAY

Penkridge Ceramics'' success lies in the creation of the ''real thing'' when it comes to ceramic fruits, vegetables and horsechestnuts.

This stand- alone collection, established in 1984 by MA Ceramics graduates, Lorraine Taylor and Nicky Smart, is now considered the best in it's field.

The attention to detail is paramount, each piece is individually considered, with several layers of glaze added to create both colour and texture, giving a ''super-real'' effect and accuracy of finish.

Their influences lie in trompe l''oeil and early still life paintings of fruits, which demonstrates the beauty of the organic forms along with the accuracy and detail required to represent the ''real thing.''
